Who knew a year ago that every little girl would want to dress up like two girls from Norway named Anna and Elsa and that we’d all want a best friend like a snowman named Olaf and a reindeer named Sven? Disney obviously didn’t anticipate the success of the Frozen movie. Merchandise flew off the shelves during the holiday season last year and it hasn’t slowed down since then. It’s just as crazy if you think you’re actually going to see Anna and Elsa while you’re at Walt Disney World. Just a handful of people are lucky enough to get a FastPass+ for the meet and greet while others have waited more than three hours in line for a few minutes with them. A few months ago while I was in New York City, I was in The Disney Store and overheard a frantic dad ask a Cast Member about Frozen merchandise. Obviously answering the question for the millionth time that day, she nicely explained that new merchandise is only put out on Saturday mornings and it’s first come, first serve with a line starting outside the store before it even opens. I knew I had to come back on Saturday to see what they had and see this first hand.
Luckily I had a good sport with me who also loves Disney and we set off to line up for The Disney Store about half an hour before the store opened. Not being a local (and it being my first visit), I had no clue we were walking into the middle of a cancer walk/run that was starting in Times Square. Trying to fight the crowd of people and find the line was an adventure in and of itself. At least we had plenty of entertainment while we waited for the store to open. Finally it was time. Watching the store open was similar to the Magic Kingdom rope drop but I wasn’t able to see anything because people were shoving to the front to get the Frozen merchandise. One tiny little rack of merchandise sat just behind the Cast Members opening the store. Within minutes of the store opening, everything was gone and it was time to wait in line again. Some things were held behind the counter to limit what people were able to get. There was also a drawing for Elsa dresses so my girlfriend and I both put our name in the hat to see if we’d be picked. After more waiting (my Disney Store trip was a lot like a trip to the parks), it was time for the dress drawing and we were both chosen. We paid for our dresses and hit the town again.
That brings us to the giveaway. Initially we’d put our names in to keep them from the people trying to buy them to sell on eBay for some crazy price. When we won, I knew I wanted to give my dresses away to some sweet little girl. So here we are today. Luckily some other blogger friends jumped in with me to help with the giveaway and we have got a really awesome giveaway for you! Here’s what you’re entering to win:
