Welcome to those of you joining me from Ashley Aspires and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail.
This month we’re sharing information on EPCOT’s International Flower and Garden Festival. For my portion of the hop, I’m going to share some of the kid friendly offerings at the festival. One thing I was mistaken about as a new Disney visitor was that I wouldn’t be able to go and enjoy looking at flowers and topiaries while my kiddos were in tow. Boy was I wrong! As is the norm with Disney, the Flower and Garden Festival is a family friendly event and there really is something for everyone!
Last year, the play area for children was Oz themed. Having visited EPCOT during other times of the year, I knew the spot they were playing on was normally just an open area. The way it had been transformed and the equipment that was brought in just for these few weeks for the kids to play on was very impressive. In addition to an area for the kids to play, Disney didn’t forget about the adults keeping an eye on the playing children. With comfy chairs and fans in a shaded area, parents and grandparents were able to relax and enjoy the play break as much (or maybe even more) than the kids. Just like any other outdoor playground, it’s always best to check the play equipment to make sure it’s not too hot for your little ones before they begin playing. Sitting in the Florida sun can really warm things up.
During the evenings, there’s also another kind of entertainment – the Flower Power concert series. My boys love music so we made sure to check out The Village People when they performed at last year’s festival. Of course the boys knew the YMCA but got into the other songs they also performed prior to that. Having multiple shows each evening, we could also hear them just walking through the countries near the stage which is a nice option if you’re not able to sit and enjoy the entire show. Do be sure to get there early to get a seat in the theater. It fills up quickly and you don’t want to be stuck standing in the back because you didn’t allow for enough time.
