Traveling to Disney will pretty much guarantee that you see a character or two while you’re there. If you don’t have a plan, a lot of your time can be spent waiting in line to see those sweet characters. Gathering autographs and getting a picture with your favorite can be quite tempting but standing in the sun waiting in line is not how you want to spend your valuable vacation time. Thankfully EPCOT has this covered with the Character Spot. It’s newly refurbished and completely enclosed which is great if the weather’s hot, cold, rainy or otherwise just not cooperating. We’d visited the characters in the Character Spot on previous trips but I wanted to stop in to see how it looked after the refurb. Honestly, they added a few TV screens that I didn’t remember from our last visit but that was the only obvious change I could pick up. It had been several trips since our last visit so there may be more changes that I didn’t pick up on.
Meeting the characters here (Mickey, Minnie and Pluto) was great for us since it was a warm morning in EPCOT and we had time after Soarin’ and Nemo before we could use our FastPass for Test Track. We were all more than happy to enjoy the air conditioning and get the bonus of seeing the characters. The princess has been hit or miss with the characters so we were all waiting to see how she’s react. During our visit, we were lucky enough to get some wonderful characters who really tried hard to interact with the princess even though she didn’t much want to cooperate. Overall she did well and the Character Spot is still one of the spots we’ll stop to visit our favorites when we need a break from the weather.
