|One of my most favorite things at Disney World|
As I’ve said before, it’s sometimes hard for me to vacation places other than Disney. For those who have been reading here for a few weeks, you’ll know that I’ve been planning a trip to Washington DC over Labor Day weekend. Well, when hubby got home from work this morning and we started talking about the plans for our upcoming trip and all the planning I have yet to do for our Disney trip in October, he made a suggestion.
Never in a million years did I think he would be the one to suggest we go to Disney instead of another destination for vacation (in fact, he even said that while we were talking). I was looking forward to DC and the kids were as well. Carter was hanging out with us while we were talking about the possible change in plans and he was immediately ready to go to Disney instead. Corbin was a bit of a tougher sell but before long his vote was for Disney too. As much as I really, really want to go to DC, Disney’s a lot cheaper for us and when you’re saving for a new house and second vehicle, that’s an enticing factor. We’ve already got our Annual Passes (APs) so the only big thing we have to worry about is gas there and back and a place to stay.
My hesitation was due to several factor: I was very much looking forward to seeing my girlfriend and her family (I’ll hopefully get to see some other friends at Disney if I’m lucky), I was looking forward to DC (just the other day I was thinking it had been way too long since we’d been to Disney), I haven’t been through my Disney stuff in a while so now I’ll need to get busy getting everything organized and around (honestly I haven’t really messed with our stuff since our last couple of quick trips and needed to go through the stuff anyways).
Right now the plan would be to leave for Disney the Friday night before Labor Day as soon as hubby gets home from the fire academy. This will probably be the hardest thing for me. I’m not a patient person so having to sit around and wait for him will probably kill me. It also means that we wouldn’t be able to leave for Disney until much later than we normally do. Hubby’s got the option of flying to his class and flying back – straight to Orlando. (I’m personally voting for this option – we could still leave and get there at a decent time and he could Magical Express from the airport to Disney if we stay on site.)

To help keep our cost down, we’re looking at lots of different options – the benefits of staying on site compared to the savings of staying off site. We’ve been during other busy times (Memorial Day, Thanksgiving and other holiday weekends) so I feel like we would be able to handle the crowds. We’re also going back in October over Halloween so there’s not a lot of pressure to do everything this trip.

So now I’ve got to decide what we’re going to do….it shouldn’t be this hard to figure out a vacation. Where would you choose to go and why?
