Having a yummy snack that’s also good for you is something that can be hard to find. When Skinnygirl sent me these bars when I made contact about their Healthy Habits 30 Day Challenge, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m a big believer in eating what tastes good – just not the whole container in one sitting. Hubby has a bit of a different approach and will try to change his entire diet for a period of time before falling back into old habits or binging on something he’s craving. Not always able to step away from my desk to grab a snack or lunch during the day, I’m always looking for something that will tide me over until lunch or fill in when I just can’t get away. I don’t always know I’m going to miss lunch so having something I can just keep in my office is perfect when something comes up and I can’t get away.
I received two flavors of the protein bars to try out: Dark Chocolate Multi Grain Pretzel and Banana Oatmeal Dark Chocolate. Both bars were pretty tasty. The banana bar was very chewy where the pretzel bar was much more close to a regular granola bar you might be used to. I’m not a fan of dark chocolate but understand that it’s better for you than other varieties.
As you can see, there’s a generous amount of chocolate on each bar and large chunks inside the bar as well of the ingredients. The family was a fan of both bars and the boys each preferred a different one so they happily finished off the bars we’d opened to sample. Even the princess enjoyed them. I’ve thrown a couple in the diaper bag for snacks when we’re out running errands and someone complains that they’re hungry. They’ve held up well in the bag and I’m also kept a couple in my cupboard at work to munch on when I can’t get out.
We were fans of the bars! They’d be perfect for your park bag while you’re traveling around the parks. Be careful during the warmer months – throw them in your cooler to keep the chocolate from melting all over. They’d be a perfect snack to keep you going until your next meal stop.
