While you’re addressing those holiday cards this year, please take a moment and send a card (or two or three) to the American Red Cross “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program. I’ve already seen the address for the Walter Reed Medical Center circulating and sadly not only does that establishment no longer exist, they wouldn’t take the cards when they were sent there according to Snopes.com. Here’s the information (again, per Snopes and the Red Cross) for the “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program:
Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
Please note that all cards need to be postmarked by 12/07/2012 or they will be returned to you. It also asks that you don’t send any personal information or cards with glitter on them. Please take time to look through their requirements and suggestions. It would be terrible for you to go to the trouble of mailing the cards and someone not receiving them.
