It’s RBC Heritage week here again on Hilton Head! Thanks to the Hilton Head Bluffton Chamber of Commerce my family’s going! I was lucky enough to win three tickets over the weekend in their Master Sunday Giveaway so hubby and the boys are going to go with his mom and nephew. (Winning the tickets had no bearing on my posts or opinions. All opinions are my own.) This morning I shared with you how to get your Disney fix but I also wanted to share a couple of other tips with you too.
Food: There’s no shortage of places to eat on Hilton Head Island, that’s for sure. While most are pretty good, we do have a few favorites:
- One Hot Mamas – We haven’t been to the restaurant yet but because they’re so involved in the community, we’ve had several chances to try their food and it’s been amazing every time. Once the tourist crowds die down a little bit, they’re on my list to go check out. Chef Orchid was also on The Next Food Network Star so you may have seen her smiling face on tv. Just another reason to stop by – maybe you’ll see her in person!
- The Crazy Crab – This one’s a favorite for us. With two locations on the Island (one right in Sea Pines – Heritage info here), you’ll be able to find one of them to enjoy their food. Instead of the normal bread some places give you while you wait, The Crazy Crab brings you warm, tasty hush puppies!!! When friends and family come to town, especially for the first time, this is one place we go. Eating outside is also an option here and a perfect choice for nice warm days. Reservations are usually accepted here so it’s worth calling ahead to have a seat ready and waiting for you.
- The Salty Dog Cafe – Another place with a location right in Sea Pines, you can’t go wrong eating here. (Yes they have hush puppies too!) Calling ahead for a seat is pretty much required once things start to warm up because they’re so popular. Thankfully there are some things close by to keep you busy (and shopping) while you wait.
Shopping: Sea Pines has lots of little shops that you can spend as much or as little time as you’d like wandering through. These would be a great place to pick up something Hilton Head Island specific to commemorate your trip.
Walking: There are tons of different sidewalks, paths and trails around so you can explore both in Sea Pines and around the Island. Many companies will also rent you bikes if you’d prefer to explore that way instead.
Beach: You’re never far from the ocean on Hilton Head and the beaches here are so pretty. It’s still warming up so the water’s still chilly but that doesn’t stop the beaches from filling up with visitors and locals alike. You’ll be able to find a few shells on the beaches but for the best luck try early in the morning while the others are still waking up and enjoying their coffee.
