May just started and it’s already getting busy!! This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, National Moms Night Out and Moms Night Out the movie premieres among lots of other things.
If you haven’t taken the time to thank you child’s teacher, please make sure you do! It doesn’t have to be this week, but take a moment to thank them for the countless hours they spend making your child’s life the best it can possibly be. I always snicker this time of year when people are talking about teachers getting the “whole summer” off. What many don’t know is that teachers have “in service” days after school’s out (someone’s got to clean that classroom up and finish report cards, inventory things and do end of the year stuff) as well as before school starts back in the fall (those walls don’t just get cute on their own!). For those couple of weeks they might actually be out of school (assuming they’re not teaching summer school or tutoring), many are in class to maintain or earn a new certification to keep their job for the upcoming year. The ones lucky enough to not have to be in school are spending time with their own kids in between prepping for the twenty five new kids they have to know the first day of school. (Can you tell I’m a former teacher?) Please make sure they know how much you appreciate what they do throughout the year.
Now, it’s time to get dressed up and have a girl’s night because it’s National Mom’s Night Out. Wait, you can’t go out because someone has to watch the kids? Trust me, I get it! That’s ok – you can still have fun!!! Go put on your comfy sweats, grab your favorite snack and curl up with your tablet or laptop and hop on over to Twitter. Maria Bailey of Mom TV is hosting a Moms Night Out Twitter party starting at 7pm. As always, she’ll have some fun prizes to give away during the party. Don’t stop partying at 8 – Maria’s got two other parties tonight with more chances for you to win cool prizes!! Here’s all the info:

Once you’re able to actually get out of the house this weekend, you need to go see Moms Night Out the movie. Be sure to take a tissue or two with you. You’ll laugh like crazy but there are also some very sweet parts in the movie that might make you just a tiny bit teary. I was able to go see this movie a couple of months ago and I want to get some girlfriends together to go see it again this weekend! From the initial invite, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect about the movie but once it started, I immediately connected with the main character. Honest to goodness it was like watching my life play out on the giant screen in front of me and I knew then why I’d gotten the invite and needed to see the movie. While the movie is faith based, it certainly isn’t shoved down your throat so anyone would enjoy this movie regardless of religion or beliefs. Here’s the trailer for the movie to get you even more excited:
What are you doing for Mother’s Day this year?
