- Write it down! Find a way that works for you. If that means the family shares a Google Calendar that you can all add events to or a traditional paper calendar works better, do it. Having everything in one spot will help get everyone on the same page.
- Put someone in charge. Having a calendar is fantastic but if someone’s not looking at it to make sure things aren’t overlapping, it will still be crazy. With one person being responsible for double checking, you’ll avoid the “I thought you were doing that” oops.
- Get a timeline. Since we’ve been to Disney so many times, you could walk in tomorrow and tell me to get ready and I’d know what to grab. For things that aren’t as familiar, set up a timeline and add the major things to your calendar. Be sure to allot time for laundry (before and after the trip!), packing, unpacking and any other items you’ll need to do in preparation.
- Get commitments early. Parties are something that require a good bit of planning. You can take some of the stress off of you by getting others to help you out. Give your best friend a call and see if they’ll help you blow up balloons, bring some food over or help with some errands. Everyone busy? Look into a party planner. While it might seem pricey up front, not spending nights before the party up cooking, shopping and decorating might be well worth it. Having someone come in and clean before you leave for vacation or after a party may certainly be worth the cost to save you from having to do it and it allows you to work on other things that you can’t let someone else take care of.
